Stop reading and start your campaigns!

Listen up newbies! It’s ok to read other affiliates’ blogs, forums, or websites promoting the next “magic pill”, seriously it’s ok! But there comes a point where you just have to stop reading and use what you learned, if you don’t, this will just be another hobby for you! To the successful affiliate, this ISN’T a hobby, is a job, a career, a way to earn a living for their families. You will not survive this industry if you have the mentality of “I just wanna make a quick buck”, it doesn’t work that way.

For the first couple months of my journey, I was in that same boat you are; reading, absorbing, and worst of all dreaming of the possibilities. I got stuck in that stage and I felt comfortable just dreaming. It was addictive to think of “sweet I’ll have so much money if I do this, blah blah blah”. It’s the same feeling I feel when I think of winning the lottery, and it’s bad for your progress.

The reason for this post is because I realized, I haven’t read any of my favorite blogs (Jonathon Volk, affbuzz, Richard Bonnar, etc). I’ve been too busy setting up my campaigns and actually doing work! My schedule would be to work my daytime job from 8-5, come home and workout for an hour, and straight to my campaigns until past midnight. Whether it be keyword researching, article marketing, or fixing up my current blogs, I was changing my work ethic towards this journey, and it feels great! I’m progressing from hobbyist to career driven. I want to have the expensive stuff, I want extra income, I want a lot of things and reading won’t get me there.

Take action! I know it’s hard, and it’s going to seem scary, but once you’re in the trenches, you realize you have friends to guide you.

Thank you for this post! I’m definitely what you would call a “newbie.” Last week I was thinking about my career future in acting (I’m only in college), and with that in mind I realized I will need an extremely flexible source of income to realize my dreams. I came across affiliate marketing online, and I really liked the possibilities, but for the last week I would say that your post reflects my EXACT attitude and feelings.

It’s overwhelming all the different programs SHOUTING at me to spend what little money I have to learn from them. Many of them promise they’re for beginners like me, although I’m finding this to be false. Yet their incentives are so tempting! I find it hard to sleep at night because I keep thinking “Wow, one day I can make thousands each month from affiliate marketing,” yet I have barely gotten my feet wet.

I just wanted to give you my perspective on this post. This is my FIRST time ever commenting on a blog, so I suppose you should feel honored in a way :D .

    John,

Believe me when I say this, but I do feel honored that you took the time to comment on my blog!

But I want to help you out!

I know these “different programs” will offer you the world, if you just spend $47 bucks on their ebook, well I’m here to tell you that they’re all the same! The information that each ebook will present is pretty much the same, just in different packaging!

Instead, if you really feel like you need help, go on to other affiliates’ blogs and read the comments. I’ve been pretty successful finding answers to my questions because someone else asked it first. Just don’t forget, don’t get attached to reading, you have to act on what you’ve learned.

Learn from my mistakes. I’ve spent so much money on ebooks, websites, blog themes, that I started to doubt myself.

Shoot me an email glennb@para10.com and I’ll offer more advice on how you can start with little to no money invested, just your time.
